Imagine the same ring in different metals :
18ct Yellow gold
Weighs 4.0 grams. Darkish yellow in colour. Good wearability.
18ct White gold
Weighs 4.1 grams. Light grey naturally, all manufacturers rhodium plate it (whiter than platinum). Tougher wearability than yellow.
Platinum
Weighs 5.8 grams. Whiter than white gold, never plated. Very tough wearability.
Palladium
Weighs 3.3 grams. Very nearly as white as platinum, never plated. More tough than gold, hasn't been around long enough to tell if it's as tough as platinum but my guess is that it almost is.
As you can see above, the most striking thing is the difference in weight between platinum and palladium. As a jeweller, when I have to judge whether a ring is platinum or palladium, I feel the weight of it because they look virtually identical. The big weight difference is the obvious give away.
Wearability is good on all the metals available on this website.
As to the choice of metal - well that's up to you !
Hope I've shed some light on it.
